Technology Cut-Off

Recently, I gave up my phone and it has shown me a lot about how big of a role technology plays in my life. I don't even use my phone that much, but I like just knowing that it's there for whenever I'm bored or procrastinating or waiting for the bus or in an awkward situation. Reaching into my pockets and realizing my phone was not there gave me a mini heart attack, yet I still reached for it every few minutes, without even realizing it.
That's when I realized I was addicted to my phone. Subconsciously, I pull it out when I'm walking somewhere, or doing homework, or eating. Not periodically checking it these past few days has made me feel like I'm forgetting something, or not being somewhere I need to be. It's not that I cut myself off from all technology either. I still used other peoples phones and my laptop, but the point is my mentality changed.
Apparently this is a real thing, and phone addictions are becoming increasingly prominent in our generation. According to Baylor University, young people spend about seven hours daily on technology, which is pretty sad, because that more than I sleep. Anyway, I guess the first step is admitting you have a problem, which I've done, so now I want my phone back.

This is the video from Baylor University, which compares phone addictions to compulsive shopping, which I also have the occasional problem with unfortunately.
