The first night of Chanukah was last night. I'm not a super religious person, but I am half Jewish and my little sister has recently become interested in Judaism, so for the first time in a while I went to temple. I wasn't really thrilled to go, because sitting and listening to a Rabbi was not my idea of a fun Friday night. But the temple is really pretty, and they sang a lot of pretty Hebrew songs. Watching my sister read prayers gave me a new appreciation for Chanukah, and when we lit our menorah, it meant more to me. Being in temple in general motivated me to keep up my new leaf and my goal of being a better student and friend.
